The flare stack burns
Like a north star
To this graveyard shift
As they’re making their way in
Hay fields turn to subdivisions
Giving off an incandescent glow
While everyone’s asleep

The freeway is always
The quiet hum I need to keep me sane
My feet ache
On the last day
Of this turn around
I’ve been on for 3 weeks now

And wander way up in the clouds
With a brand new start

But this town

The old ball field 
On the North lot
If this bloodshot place 
Has overgrown with weeds
The city forgot it existed
But never turned off all
The switches
And so the lights come on each night
I see the glow from this two lane road
When I get the itch to take the long way home
That bright eyed kid I was back then, had plans of never growing old
